Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples as the traditional custodians of the land, sky, and waterways of the Newcastle (Mulubinba) region where we lived, worked, and studied during this degree.

For tens of thousands of years, these lands have been a site of deep observation, botanical knowledge, and artistic storytelling. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We honor their enduring connection to Country and celebrate the rich history of recording and illustrating the natural world that has existed on these lands since time immemorial.
